Hi!  I am looking forward to a great 2016-2017 school year! Thank you for sharing your child with me this year! I look forward to partnering with you to make this school year a great success for your child! I will be starting my 13th year of teaching this fall. Eleven years of my teaching experience are in first grade and one year is in second grade. I started my teaching career in Barbers Hill ISD, the fall after I graduated from Lamar University, where I taught for 9 years and then moved to The Woodlands area three summers ago to teach in Klein ISD, where I taught for one year before coming to BWE two years ago. I grew up in a small town in Southeast Texas called Lumberton and love visiting my parents who still live there. During the summer, I enjoy visiting my extended family in Florida and traveling. This year I ventured to New York City for a short trip to go see the broadway production of Wicked and to visit lots of historical sites! When I wasn't traveling, I was here in The Woodlands playing with my puppy Belle who stole my heart last December when I rescued her, visiting friends, reading, and enjoying sleeping in.  I look forward to an outstanding school year with lots of fun, hands on learning in all subject areas!

Class News
Class Calendar
Miss Miller looks forward to meeting you all this Friday at Meet the Teacher! We are going to have a great school year!
All homework is found in the green daily folder.
Reading with your child every night for 20 minutes is highly important.
Green folder is sent home daily.

Please send the Bulldog folder that comes home on Friday's back to school every Monday.

Sending Medicine to School:
Please send your child to school only when he or she is well.  If you do need to send medicine to school for your child, you must deliver the medicine in person - no medicines are allowed on the school bus or in children's backpacks.  Medicines will be kept in the nurse’s office. The nurse will administer the medicine at the proper time.  Medicine must not be expired, and it must be sent in its original container with the directions and the child's name on it.
I know that school is the best for children when parents and teachers communicate.  Please get in touch with me whenever you have a concern or question.  My conference time is from 9:35-10:30, and I would be glad to make an appointment to meet with you. My email address at the school is This is the best option of contact. The simplest way to contact me is to send a note to school with your child in his/her daily folder or to email me.
Coming Late/ Leaving Early:
Students are counted tardy starting at 7:45 am and absent at 9:00 am unless the student was at the doctor and provides a note upon returning.  Attendance is very important to your child's learning.
Getting Home From School:
If for any reason your child has a change in transportation, please send a dated note to school with them, signature required.  Without a note, they will have to follow their regular way of transportation. This is mainly for the safety of your child. You can also send an email
Report Cards:
Report cards are sent home every grading period to keep you informed of your child’s progress. This will help you celebrate your child’s accomplishments and will provide a snapshot of areas in which a little extra support is needed.
Parent Access:
Please register for a parent access account so you can view information regarding your students attendance, report cards, progress reports, daily grades,  and available lunch money.
Lunch and Recess: 10:45-11:45
Children’s lunches are $2.45. There is a credit card payment system which can be accessed through the main CISD website/Child Nutrition. Directions are included on the links so that you may set up an account for your child using your student’s 6 digit ID number.  Cafeteria account balances may be accessed using the Conroe ISD “View-It” system.  If for any reason your child does not have money for lunch, he or she will receive a cheese sandwich.
Birthdays are special occasions for young children. You may send a special treat (store brought/no peanuts or candy please) on that day for your child to pass out during the last 10 minutes of lunch time to his/her classmates. Personal birthday party invitations can only be distributed at school if the whole class is invited.
I would love to have 100% parent participation in the PTO.  The PTO gives your child a voice in how different things are being run in the school.

Here is a website you can view that will give you a better understanding of what we used to teach in first grade math and what we are now required by the state to teach.
